Tattoo Aftercare Advice

Usually after receiving your new addition the studio in which you had the tattoo will issue you with some aftercare advice.

The information listed below is what both of our tattooist's advise customers to do after having there tattoo done.

  • After 10 hours remove the dressing from the tattoo.
  • Wash it and pat dry with a clean soft kitchen toweling.
  • Leave the tattoo to air dry for 1hr.
  • Apply antiseptic cream each morning and night until the tattoo has completely healed. This usually takes from 10-14 days.
  • We recommend using E45 or Savlon.

HEALING PROCESS

As the skin heals any weeping (Plasma) will have stopped.

The top layer of skin will start to heal.

Sometimes the skin can scab. Quiet a few people are prone to scabbing.

Areas that have required a lot of work doing to them can increase the likely hood of scabbing.

Using a good aftercare cream like mentioned above can help minimise this.

The skin might also start to lightly flake (Like skin that peels after you have sunburn). This is normal and can also be more noticeable with heavily coloured and full black tattoos.

This light flaking may continue for a few days then the skin may go shiny.

DON'T PANIC this is the top layer of skin healing. During this time the skin may become itchy. DO NOT itch. Using a good quality aftercare like the ones mentioned above will help sooth the itching.

After few days the skin might look duller. This is NOT how your tattoo will finish up looking. As both layers of skin heal the tattoo will start to look brighter.

YOU MUST AVOID

  • Direct Sunlight
  • Sunbeds
